Description
Sequim Bay West is a section of the Olympic Discovery Trail (ODT) from Blyn west to Sequim. Views of Sequim Bay, with fir, cedar, and big leaf maples sheltering the first several miles of the route make for a very pleasant, relaxed ride. A new bridge across the ravine in Sequim Bay State Park has dramatically improved and eased this segment of the route, making the short journey through the park even more enjoyable–even if you don’t wander through the park down to the water’s edge. Continuing west, the route makes a short climb up the junction with Whitefeather Way. Turn left on Whitefeather to pick up the ODT just a hundred yards or so south where it crosses Johnson Creek on a 150 ft railroad trestle. In winter months, the deck on the trestle can be slippery with ice or mossy growth, so take care if you’re out here riding that time of year.
Enter Sequim just past the welcoming Elk Monument on East Washington Street, before turning right (north) on Rhodefer Rd and crossing West Sequim Bay Road into Carrie Blake Park.
