The Port Angeles Harbor road bike route follows a segment of the Olympic Discovery Trail (ODT) that starts at Lake Farm Road and winds about seven miles through rolling forested hills and along the shoreline into downtown Port Angeles. One mile after leaving Lake Farm Rd, the trail drops sharply to Bagley Creek. The down slopes are tricky for bicycles, especially when the pavement is wet. At the foot of the hill, you’ll make a sharp right turn to cross the bridge;be extra careful here as this has been the site of several accidents.
The trail then climbs sharply to the US Hwy 101 Deer Park Overlook, which offers a panoramic view of the Olympic Mountains as well as restroom facilities. From there, it drops sharply on a winding path to Morse Creek. After crossing the 400 ft railroad trestle restored by volunteers, you’ll head north paralleling the stream to its mouth on the Strait of Juan de Fuca and from there you ride along the scenic shoreline four miles into Port Angeles. This section of trail along the water is known as the Waterfront Trail and is very popular locally.
Although rated Easy overall, crossing Bagley Creek can seem daunting and some cyclists may want to dismount and walk this section.
