The Disco Bay Mixer route follows mixed surface roads, trails, and tracks in and around Sequim.
The route starts at the Rainshadow Cafe, 157 West Cedar St in downtown Sequim. It heads east from Sequim onto the Olympic Discovery Trail (ODT) through Sequim Bay State park and down to the Seven Cedars Casino and Longhouse Market in Blyn. After crossing US Highway 101 (use extreme caution due to high traffic volume most days; even using the underpass from the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribal Center, you’ll be riding against traffic for about a quarter mile) head south on Woods Rd just east of the market. This is the beginning of the dirt section of the route.
From here the route heads south continuing to climb gently as it veers easterly through smaller, more wooded roads before descending to Uncas Rd just south of Discovery Bay. Go north on Uncas to Discovery Bay village. A nicely stocked little grocery full of quality foods, sandwiches, drinks, ice cream etc. Next door there is a nice little tap room with a choice selection of draft beers.
Crossing Hwy 101 again (caution, caution, caution), pick up the new section of the ODT west to Old Gardiner Road for a quiet stretch on back country chip-seal west to Diamond Point Road where it reconnects to th
e ODT. Most of this new segment of the ODT is p
aved but the final half mile or so is on grassy, muddy gravel–basically double-track mountain bike surface, though even skinny-tire road bikes will make it through with little problem.
After this, the route follows the established ODT all the way back to downtown Sequim, either stopping at the start point or continuing on a bit to the Peninsula Taproom at 210 West Washington St.
